Penance- will be Wednesday morning. Please discuss the importance of penance and have them get ready- practice the Act of Contrition and know the sins they want to tell the priest. We are so lucky to be able to have this chance to be forgiven and become closer to God.
As a class service project, we have written pen pal letters to our pen pal class in Los Banos. This class is a special education class. Mr. Hoffart has come in to share what it is like to have learning challenges. This has been a wonderful experience for my class because they have come to understand that we are all unique children of God. Just because we don't all learn the same way, we are still human beings and loved by God. My sister and I have paired up several times to do this, because it gives our children experiences in sharing and toleration- something our world seems to be lacking. Her class is one that has learning challenges as well as financial challenges. Her class is a very low income group, and because of this we have worked together to help provide each child with something for the holidays. I am asking each child to bring in something small to put in a gift bag for each child. We need scarves, socks, gloves, hats, toiletries, and/ or small games, school supplies, or toys. This should not be something expensive, but something meaningful- something they would like. These children are ages 8-12, and I know that they would love anything that my students would pick out. I will talk to my class about this project and they can volunteer to bring in 1-2 items. I will also need15 gift bags- maybe something you have laying around. The best items are ones that can be for a boy or girl- not specific to one group. I am asking that we have all items in byWed. December 7, 2011 please.
