first week of October!

Dear parents
We have been working on building complete sentences and making paragraphs.  Some students are struggling with making basic complete sentences. One way you can help is by checking their homework.  Please check homework for capitalizing the first word of each sentence and when the word is a proper noun.  Also, check to see that they use punctuation at the end of each sentence.
Another concern is counting money.  Please practice counting money and giving change.  This is a crucial life skill that they must know.  A little help will go a long way in what we are covering in math.  Thanks for the help.

This Tuesday is the Blessing of the Animals Mass.  Students may wear shorts because the Mass is at 1:15 at the front of the school.  If you are bringing an animal bring the animal at that time.  Parents and their family pets will sit at the back.  Students must sit with their class until after the Mass when the animals are to blessed.  Thank you for your cooperation with this.

Language arts
There will be no reading story this week.  Students will be learning about Indian legend stories.  The students will write their own Indian legend story with their tribe(coloring page from last week) in mind.  This writing will be done in class, and they might need to take stories home to help with proofreading and editing sometime this week.  I want this to be the student's work, but helping in the area of spelling and punctuation is always a good thing when they are learning to write.  Check their planners daily to see if they need to complete any portion of this assignment at home for homework on any given night this week. Thank you.
